Recognised as France’s largest oil producer with assets in the Paris and Aquitaine Basins; in the Netherlands the gas assets are in the provinces of Friesland and Noord-Holland. With European operations now a focus for growth, following a recent strategic re-organisation resulting in the creation of a subsurface team to be based in Parentis-en-Born, 80km south of Bordeaux, they are keen to recruit three talented Senior Geologists.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Asset Team Leader, in a highly autonomous role, this position primarily carries responsibility for all geological activities on both operated and non-operated assets. Working within an extremely dynamic environment, you will co-ordinate closely with other technical disciplines in order to build value through development projects and appraisal upside by the application of new and creative technologies and managing projects with contractor companies. Responsibilities also include geological mapping and modelling activities to analyse, interpret and assess current acreage, highlighting the reserves potential and prospective plays which will result in prospect generation and a Drilling Portfolio Inventory from which prospects can be ranked. Working in both an exploration and exploitation remit, utilising industry mapping and modelling software, you will use well and seismic data to improve and update development strategies and volumetrics, highlighting the sensitivities and uncertainties of the data. There is likely to be a number of wells drilled by the company over the forthcoming years, to which the successful candidate can be a driving force behind planning, implementing and delivering. Additionally you will provide input where necessary on new ventures opportunities, working with the management team to manage and strategically grow the portfolio. QUALIFICATIONS
A graduate Geologist, ideally trained with a major E & P player or large independent, you will have an impressive track record of working on exploration and development projects and of finding commercial hydrocarbons. With a first class working knowledge of petroleum systems, you will ideally be able to demonstrate good project management skills. A thorough knowledge of the development process and concepts, reservoir modelling and up to date technology will be of benefit, as will being able to contribute to new venture evaluations and valuations. In addition to outstanding technical strengths, you must be a strong team player, a good communicator who is self confident and has the ability to take the initiative and show a creative approach. Keen to make a serious contribution as the company continues to grow its portfolio, you will have the chance to develop and evolve with it. French language skills are advantageous.
